Hasselblad 40mm lens on v96c digital

A Hasselblad rep recently told me that the focal length factor for

using this back is 1.7

 

I was under the impression that it was 1.52.

 

Can anyone say what the focal length using this 40mm lens on that

digital back will be equivalent to with a film back on?

I understood it to be 1.5? therefore if:

 

1.50 = 60.00mm

1.52 = 60.80mm

1.70 = 68.00mm

By the way it doesn't change the focal length. The effect is exactly the same as using a film back and then cutting the slide down to 37mm x 37mm.

For all practicall resons your 40mm will feel very similar to 60mm lens, but it

will still draw as 40mm lens and not as 60mm.

I can further confirm the factor of 1.5--a couple of months ago I inquired of Hasselblad by email, and a senior engineer verified it.

Upon calculation the 16 MP back at square 37X37 is going top cover 45 degree on the horizontal which is just like the 60mm on the 6x6 frame

Correction, that should be 50 degree on the horizontal
