arunarchi
Hi fellow comrades In the market for a tripod - am an amateur photographer - like shooting outdoor nature photos (slides) - got a Canon EOS elan IIe body and 2 lenses - standard issue 28-80 and wide angle 20-35 - plan to buy a 75-300IS or 70-200 L series in the future - would prefer a lightweight tripod - have neuro problems with right hand dexterity - so, cannot lug around a giant tripod - am 6'2" tall -so, fire away fellows - I really can use some advise Thanks in advance Arun

ian_butler
Arun, I just bought a Slik u212, used, for $60.00. I know it is not the best tripod in the world, but it is versatile, light, and pretty cheap. It might be a bit unstable fully extended with a long lens, but I am 6 foot and it will take my SLR viewfinder up one inch above my standing eye level. Might want to give one a TRY, Ian
franka t.l.
The Velbon Carmagne Series, El Carmagne & Neo Carmagne series ( either the 6 or 7 series and 30 model ) with a light weight ballhead ( the Mag alloy 273 or 263 ) is the one that I would recommend. Not cheap, but not quite as expensive as the Gitzo & Manfrottos, and certainly light enough My usual combo is the 273 head + 630 Neo which weight about roughly 2.7 Kg You can get by with even lighter combo

klix
I'll make it easy for you: Get a Gitzo - either the 1320 or 1341 You'll need a ballhead as well: Get an Arca Swiss B1, a Kirk BH1 or BH3 or Acratech.
arunarchi
Thinking of getting the Slik Pro 700DX Tripod - almost decided based on price, strength and height - all based on reviews - don't have the luxury to go see it - what do ya guys think about the Slik tripod? Any thoughts appreciated. Arun
