Rangefinder retail in CA bay area?

Anyone know where I can handle some CVs (preferred) or Leicas in the

CA Bay Area?

Check out Keeble & Shuchat in Palo Alto. They have new and used Leica gear. I don't know

where you'll find CV stuff.

cameraquest.com is the only place to go for the full range. they have a decent return policy. don't buy anything now; the new stuff will be here in a month (the 40 1.4 and the, more important, the r3a).

Camera Boutique on Kearny @ Pine and Advance Camera at 118 Columbus carried VC gear at some point in the past. I don't know if they still do.

Keeble is quite a good store. They have Leica and Contax gear in the rangefinder category. I believe they have the Hasselblad X-Pan II as well.

Thanks, I will check out Keeble and drool over the M7's and the Xpan. As far as the R3A one reason I would like to see the CVs in person is to compare 1:1 finder with 0.7. Which, as was pointed out, won't be possible until January or thereabouts, and even then perhaps only from Cameraquest. I am skeptical that 1:1 is as meaningful as some (particularly Mr. Gandy) would have me believe.

Try Precision Camera in Mountain View (on El Camino and El Monte, in a little shopping

center). They are going out of business and have some Leica gear for sale at a good

discount. If I had the cash I'd have taken their 35 lux but even discounted it's too much.

 

Keeble and Shucat have a good used selection, but aren't particularly good on pricing.

 

Back to Precision Camera, every thing in the store is on sale, film is 10% off, darkroom

stuff is 10-15%. Some other stuff is 205. They have a besseler enlarger for 50% off (23 C

or CIII 23 or something, it looked impressive). A Canoscan 4000 and lots of other stuff.

Oh, Precision Camera has XPAN, too. I didn't look to see if it was a Xpan 2 or 1.

 

BTW, I have no affiliation with Precision, but they are giong out of business and are

liquidating their stock so it's a good place to look.

You might try Calumet in the Mission District on 20th. Maybe Reeds Camera on Locust in Walnut Creek may have some. They have quite a bit of Leica. The Bay Area is weak on retail camera equipment.
