piero_piero
Hi all,I've just bought an used Contax G2 with 28 + 45 + 90. I am very happywith my new G2 but I think the f-stop ring of my 28 is too hard toturn. Sometimes it's hard but sometime it's ok. I didn't realize itwhen buying but the seller told me he almost never used the 28. Thelens looks quite ok with none stripe. What do you think about ? Is it possible for a f-stop ring to becomehard to turn with no use ? Thanks for your answers; piero
mike_elek
Most lenses today use one or more small ball bearings to control the click stops on the aperture scale. If the ball bearings have slipped out of position, then that MIGHT make the aperture scale tough to turn, depending on where the ball bearing is now. Or it might not have anything to do with this, and it could be a different problem altogether.
pengland
Piero, My Biogon 28mm has had lots of use over the last year and the aperture ring is as smooth as silk. Sorry to say it but yours sounds faulty. Good luck with the return or repair.
piero_piero
thanks for your answers. 45 and 90 are quite ok. For the Biogon 28mm, I will use it for the moment and see what happens. Maybe the aperture ring will become smoother. If not, repearing ... :(
markus_ehrenfried
I agree with the other replies: it sounds like a fault. But as long as it works I wouldn't worry too much. I have almost all of the Contax G-Lenses and the aperture ring 'feels' the same on all of these lenses.
