steve williams
I'm trying to find out info, such as how many aperture blades each particular Nikor lens has and the shape of the blades. Is there a site that gives such information? Unless I'm reading it wrong, the Nikon USA site is pitiful in terms of providing in-depth technical information on it's products. Thanks, Steve
faizal
Hi Steve, You can try here for a start : http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/index.htm Good luck! Rick Waller
I actually find the Nikon USA website to have a wealth of info on their lenses, but you can try here as well: http://bythom.com/nikkordb.htm
david_h._hartman
<em>"Unless I'm reading it wrong, the Nikon USA site is pitiful in terms of providing in-depth technical information on it's products." --Steve Williams<br> </em><br> You are reading Nikon USAs website right. It a rather poor excuse for a website. They didnt even list the weight of camera and lenses at first. I emailed then several times suggesting that they look at the excellent sales guides Nikon produced in the 70s and early 80s and the book <u>Eyes Of Nikon</u> from 1985 and create a page for each product with that kind of quality of information and design. I chided them several times about not listing the weight of lenses. I suspect others did too. There are products that Nikon (inclusive) almost does not promote. Some F5 accessories are found in the instruction manual and in a Nikon Photographic Accessories brochure but no where else that I can find. I dont know where I downloaded the accessories brochure but Ill guess Nikon UK.<br> <br> I just searched Nikon USA, Nikon Canada, Nikon United Kingdom and Nikon Japan and got zero hits on "DW-31" the 6x finder for the F5. I also searched from "DA-30" the sports finder for the F5 and got one hit at Nikon USA with no photo, no data, no content at all. Ive done this on other items like SC-17 and AS-17. Sometimes they will waste your time with Flash Presentations that are boring as hell but they just dont have quality information.<br> <br> RadioShack has better information about their products and I can down load an instruction sheet for the products Im interested in. Nikon USA is poorly managed and clueless concerning customer satisfaction. I dont know why.<br> <br> Here is one of my favorite sites. A couple others are listed above...<br> <br> <a href="http://www.naturfotograf.com" target="_new"><u>Naerfoto Bjorn Rorslett</u></a><br> <br> To get the information you want you just have to look here and there. For older Nikon products Photography In Malaysia is great. Thats one of the links above.<br> <br> Regards,<br> <br> Dave Hartman.
vivek iyer
For technical info, if you dig deep, the Nikon Japanese site gives even MTF diagrams for its current line up of lenses. These are also available as brochures from Nikon (if you live close to a Nikon facility, you may be able to pick one up yourself). For subjective "evaluations" there are quite a few sites. Vivek. steve williams
Thanks for the replies. The Bjorn site doesn't give the details I'm looking for, but I'll look at the others. (I'm specifically wanting to know how many aperture blades are in each lens.) David - That's been my experience, also. I've run searches on their website several times and it shows nothing. And these are searches for some of their standard products. The manager of information for the website should be fired and replaced. Steve
vivek iyer
I have the data (brochures) of the current Nikkors (DX, 35mm and LF). I can look up the ones you are interested in. I also have most info on the Nikon technical/special lenses (from the 60s to 80s) Vivek.
h.lloyd-thomas
Roland Vink's website includes details of the number of aperture blades for many Nikkors (including annotating lenses with a "rounded diaphram opening"): http://home.aut.ac.nz/staff/rvink/nikon.html
susan_smith5
DH - it isn't much, but the OZ site for Nikon products has this on the DW-31 --> http://www.maxwell.com.au/photo/nikon/accessories/dw-31.html
