suman
Got the lens in ef-s mount from ebay without being sure if the mod works on d60 body. Anyone out here can confirm that the moded ef-s 18-55 ( the kit lens of drebel) works in d60 too?
martin_cole
as far as i am aware it wont fit any other body except the 300d/rebel or the new 20d due to the lens being longer in the lens mount. it will damage the mirror.
suman
I mentioned the moded version dude. I think Bob mentioned clearly how to fit it in 10D after DIY modification of the mount. However, did not mention if it can fit into D60.
bobatkins
My guess (and it's guess because I don't have a D60) would be that the modified EF-S 18-55 lens would work just fine on a D60 (and a D30).
As far as I know, the D60, D30 and 10D have the same sized mirror and the same lens mount clearance.
I can tell you that the modified lens works fine on an EOS IX lite (an APS SLR). No vignetting and the mirror clears the lens even at 18mm.
cgo
Since you were brave/rich enough to buy the lens not knowing if it would work with the D60, I trust wou will be kind enough to let us know the outcome ...
carlos_grupilo
Hi Suman, in my 10D works very fine. Regards Grupilo
suman
C.G, I am not rich enough, that's why I bought this lens; otherwsie would have bought the 17-40L. Well, for 70 dollar I can be little brave and I will let you know the result of my bravery:).
ron c sunshine coast, qld,a
It will be easy reasonably to measure it before going ahead.
I've used a modded 18-55 on the EOS500-rebel Xs- film body down to 20mm(!) so it's unlikely that you'll have any problems using one on the D60
The only thing that i can think of is that the D60 might have a full sized mirror from a film camera.Unlikely but remotely possible as they have only now -with the 20D- used a made-to-fit mirror box assembly. ian_hobday
The D60 has a much smaller than full-frame mirror. I know this because I was recently very suprised when I had my D60 and EOS 3 side-by-side on my desk!

I can't say if the EF-S mount lenses will work or not, but I would be very interested to hear the results of your testing!

Good luck, hope it works well.

Ian
--
Ian Hobday
Osaka, Japan
http://hobday.net/photos (Opens in a new window.) robert_barr1
There is a definitive answer: Yes, the modified EF-S 18-55 D Rebel kit lens works fine on the D60. I own the combo, and tested it to the nth degree this afternoon. Here's the image you wanted to see:
