mike_p2
Can anybody suggest a nice pocket reference for figuring out depth of field for a variety of lenses from about 17 mm to 400 or 800 mm. I'm interested in 35 mm format only.

melissa_eiselein
If you don't mind putting together your own reference page, you can download the free f/calc program from http://www.tangentsoft.net then put together your own chart customized to your lenses and usage.
I just started playing with the calculator and haven't quite figured it all out. I believe the "field of view" will not be correct if you are using a digital SLR. I'm not sure if anything else changes. I hope someone will pipe in and let us know how to adjust the readings to for our 1.6x difference.

michiel_bernhard
I build a MS Excel add-in for DOF calculation some time ago, anyone intrested can send me an email. Melissa, the crop factor makes that unsharpness is enlarged more, therefore you need to use a smaller circle of confusion diameter. darren_lodge
I've got the following installed on my Dell Axim which I take EVERYWHWERE: Expose 1.0 DOF 1.0 Both take a little bit of figuring out but work great.
