SC-17

Years ago there was a guy who modified SC-17s (extremely long,

extremely short, Ys, inline plug joints, etc). Does anyone know if

this guy is still around or if there is someone somewhere who sells

or modifies SC-17s. I would like to get one of the short ones to

use on my Stroboframe.

Really Right Stuff used to do that when Bryan was in charge and they charged a lot of money for the modification: a shorter SC-17. Now it has a different owner. You might want to check their web site about this.

It's real easy to do if you have one. Just requires a small screwdriver, a soldering iron, and a little patience. It's shortened at the end that plugs into the hotshoe.

Thanks for the help! Those places are sort of pricey, so I might follow Don's suggestion and get one from B&H and shorten it myself.

If you want to buy a new one, keep in mind that the SC-17 has been replaced by the SC-28 and SC-29 (with focus-assist LED). I have one each of SC-17 and 28.

I just bought one from Kirk because RRS was out of stock, same price at both places. They're very handy with a Stroboframe. Looks like Kirk does shorten it on the hot shoe (camera) side of the cable and straighten the cord out a little on that side too. Neither offers the newer cable yet.
