Don Harpold
Hello, I had a question about the size on the filters. I have a 80mm T* black first style. I know it is a bay 50, is bay 57 the outside diameter and will a Proxar 0.5 in B57 fit the 80mm lens? Thanks for the help. Don
george_huczek
You need a bay 50 to 55 adapter, and then it will take screw-in 55mm filters for the 80mm C planar. If you can find a bay 50 to 57 adapter, your proxar will work directly, or use a 55 to 57 step-up ring, but you may get corner vignetting with the adapter/step-up combo in front of the Proxar. ernie_gec
I don't understand what George is talking about. The "Bay 50" series of bayonet mount filters for the older lenses are all marked on the actual filter as "B57." Both descriptions refer to the same thing. The "bay 50" reference is just a popular shorthand.
ernie_gec
Spoke too soon... My proxars say "B57", my B&W filters say "50", but the mounts ARE identical in every way.
Aoresteen
Tiffen and others marked filters and adapter rings as "Bay 57" to refer to Hasselblads B50 or Bay 50 size. They are exactly the same size as others have stated. A lot of persons at camera stores today don't know this and will say "I don't have any Bay 50 items" when they do have older stock of Bay 57. It pays to check both sizes! Tony
