john_happy1
hello, can anyone tell me, when you focus this lens, will the front beexpaned? or does it keep it's size un-change? I ask this, becoz i used to own the nikon 100mm marco, when focus verytiny object, the front stick out and block out some of the light, soI'm interested will canon's one will do the same. thanks
patkane
I have the USM version and it doesn't change length when focusing. I'm not sure about the older version.
corey_gardner1
The USM version (newer version) focuses internally so there are no changes to the front of the lens.
rob_murray
The older version would get longer, the USM version does not.
mark_t2
the USM model the lens is awefully close to the edge of the lens.. i would suggest shelling out 40 bux for the lens cap or 20 bux for a UV filter to protect the lens.
andrew robertson
I have the 100 f/2.8 Macro. Is the Marco version for import into South / Central America? It works great, and is a true macro lens. The USM version is constant in size, not sure about the older one.
