nikon geek
Hey everyone! I am currently attempting to use the Stroboframe Camera-Flip bracket and like it... except for two things. When I flip the camera to vertical, my SC-17 attachment on the camera shoe is hitting the handle of the bracket, and I can't comfortably use the vertical shutter release because the metal plate that the camera is resting on gets in the way!!! I need a flash bracket that has a handle on the left-hand side that I can hold onto (like the current bracket) and that allows me to freely and comfortably use the vertical grip and shutter release. What do you recommend???? (By the way, the reason I want the handle is that these models that are made so that you can hold the camera seem like they would be REALLY awkward and off-balance! Any comments on this also welcome!)
gary_woodard
Have you tried the Stroboframe Pro-T or Press-T, I use them with my F100with sc-17 with no problem, try one out! These are designed to hold by gripping the camera in a normal fashion, lightweight.
david_prouty
I posted my rig before with my Stroboframe R-4a (currently R-4b). It has the grip with cable release on the left and the small grip under the lens. The only bad thing about this bracket is it's wobbly nature on a tripod. Off tripod it's great, even if it is monstrous looking! You should have plenty of clearance for the SC-17! I can't post the picture here for some reason, so I can't show you. Been using them for years!
nikon geek
I am interested in this Stroboframe R-4b that you are referring to. Two questions... Is the cable release removeable, and does the frame of the bracket get in the way of you using the vertical grip and shutter release?

And when you say that the bracket is wobbly on the tripod, what exactly do you mean? How bad is it?
al_kaplan1
I hold the flash (usually a Vivitar 283) in my left hand and my camera (rangefinder Leica)in my right hand, no cumbersome and annoying bracket and I can aim the flash where I want.
