exteme card only downloading a few images - help

My San Disk 512 extreme card is only transfering about 70% of the

images. I hooked it up to download and it stops in the middle of the

transfer. If I try it again, it downloads, from the beginging, but a

different number of shots, say 20 instead of 35. I always reformat

my cards in the camera. What's going on? What can I do?

Are you using a card reader to transfer the images or are you downloading directly from the camera? What card reader / camera? Is the card reader or camera connected to the PC directly or is there an USB hub in between? (Try removing the hub). USB 1.1, 2.0 or Firewire?

I'm using a usb 2.0 lexar multi card reader connected directly to a dell d800. I've never had any problems with this configuration in the past.

 

I'm shooting a nikon d70 with a 512 to 1 GB extreme cards. I also use a 1 gb lexar pro 40X.

I've seen readers get fussy and do the same thing. Most of the time it was because the reader was on a hub that was almost maxxed out. Try plugging it directly into the USB on the system.

I'm having the same problem with that same card and a D1X. The camera store I bought them all at is muttering darkly that Nikon and Sandisk don't like each other and I'd be better off with Lexar. My solution is to try and get my money back and get a Lexar card.
