jay_.
There were three versions of that lens. The first two shared the same catalog number but different optical designs. V.1 (1964-74) was a 7 element 5 group lens that took Serie 6 or 44mm threaded filters; V.2 (1974-79)was 7 elements 6 groups and took Serie 7 or 48mm threaded filters. V.3 (1979-sometime in the 90's)was also a 6/7 design but optically different from the v.2, and was housed in a modern mount with a pull-out hood and E55 filters. I am familiar with V.3 from personal experience. It was actually a sharper lens than the contemporary Summicron-R, much lighter and less expensive. That's the only version I'd be looking for (if I was up for another *ss-whipping by the R system that is).
kurt_teerlynck
Be careful the third version does not fit the Leicaflex SL which is why I sell mine right now for 35O plus shipping.Excellent condition! Kurt
jay_.
We'll have to defer to Doug Herr on this, because I'd already sold my SL's by the time I got my hands on a V.3 Elmarit-35 but I do know that they were made in both 3-Cam and 3rd-Cam versions, and the 3rd-Cam-Only lenses I had would not mount on my SL's without banging into the meter arm.
