brian_c._miller
Hi! I am trying to solve a problem I have when my film is drying. After I process my film, I hang it up with weighted clamps. The clamps keep the film straight end-to-end, but the film curls edge-to- edge. This is particularly annoying with Ilford SFX 200.
Does anyone have a solution to getting the film to lie flat? Thanks.
tom_raymondson
Maybe try a different film. I use T-Max 100 and have not had any trouble with curling.
dave_shrader
When I managed a C-41 lab we would experience edge to edge 'curling' during hot humid weather. The negs would come out of the dryer all pre-curled. I could not use the phenomena as a sales point though. [ 8-) ].It is caused by residual entrapped water in the emulsion. Try a good photo flush before drying.
As a last resort, just let the film equalize to room conditions before printing.
Bill Bowes
Hello everyone. I do not force dry my 120 film (all emulsion types) and believe 1/4 inch at the center is normal. The curl DOES help to grasp the film for cutting. Bill
