D100 File Sequencing Question

Is there any way to have your second compactflash card pick up its

file sequencing from where the last one left off? I'm tired of using a

number of cards on the same shoot and ending up with 200 files all

baring the same name (eg, DSC_0076). Thanks.

I don't have my camera or manual handy, but ... I set mine up so it continues sequentially. I assume it's buried under the 3rd menu somewhere. If noone else has answered by this evening I'll get it for you.

If I understand you correctly, yes there is. The D70 has it in its setup menu and there it is called "File No Seq". I know you can set it on D100 as well, and it should be called about the same there.

Actaully, on my D100, by default, all file names are sequential with a 4-digit suffix as in your example. That sequence number continues when I switch cards. I haven't shot 10000 frames yet on my D100, so the sequence number hasn't rolled over yet.

 

Unfortunately, I don't know off hand how to set the D100 into that mode. If you cannot figure that out from the manual, maybe Greg or someone else can look it up for you.

Yes, hit "MENU", then go to the "CSM Menu" that's the little pencil, and go to menu item

"5", it's called "File No. Seq." toggle it to "ON" and that should do the trick.

Jason, you can also handle the sequencing in Nikon View/Transfer. It allows you to set a larger number of numerical digits and define the prefix (change from the silly "DSCN"). This is the best option if you have 2 bodies or upgrade in the future.

I have D200 and D70 sharing the same CF cards. Is there any way to change file seq name from DSC_xxxx to DCC_xxxx maybe on any of this two camera??? not changing folders name. I
