ralph_barker
Not to be critical, Alex, but I think the composition of the first image would have been much better if you had panned to the left a bit, and gotten closer to the white coat. ;-) Seriously, looks like you had fun with the 15mm. Gustave would have been pleased with your "uppie" shot. I suspect he meant for people to look up at the tower. I'd post one of it during construction, but I don't want to show my age. ;-)
Alex_Es
Hey Ralph! Thanks for the critique. But if I'd gotten any closer to the white coat Sawako would have given me a karate chop (just kidding). Thanks for all your great comments on my work. Am very impressed with your recent work on adapting lens to various cameras. By the way, where are the babes these days...?

Karim Ghantous
Alex, I think you're a great guy and all. But when are you actually going to post a good photograph? By that I mean one that makes us go, "nice". All you seem to do is record interesting subjects in an uninteresting way and waste space on the server by posting them here. joel rainville
Chad, You didn't notice something missing on your statue of liberty? Seriously, this is a 1:1 replica, just above the tunnel (we see the entry far left where the scooter is) where Lady Di died. Hence the flowers, which are put there daily by Diana's admirers. Karim Ghantous
Jealous, moi? No way in hell, matey. I'd be jealous if you took some photos that justified your equipment though. ;-)
phillip-robert
Karim, I have to agree with you, Alex's pictures are nothing striking. People posting here should really stick to quality over quantity. I'm not saying I'm some amazing photographer, I am not. But I also don't repeatedly post random pictures of Paris, even though I have hundreds... ~Phillip
watts
Some of these NW threads are becoming a bit like the online equivalent of being subjected to your Father-in-law's holiday snaps. "Here's where I met up with Bob in the bar", "This is one of the friendly ice cream seller", "Here's one of a van", "Look at this hilarious sign", etc.. To be fair, I guess we don't have to look at the NW threads and when we do there's always Travis to rescue the thread from becoming moribund. stephen_w.
I have to agree, most are a waist of bandwidth and money on equipment.
stephen_w.
BTW, Waist was intentional, as in broad waste of band (belt) width.
furcafe
While I haven't exactly been overwhelmed by Alex's photography (though I'm not sure that's his intent, anyway), as Ian noted, nobody's forcing you to look @ these threads. And @ least he doesn't make his secretary scan his travel snaps . . . ------- "I have to agree, most are a waist of bandwidth and money on equipment." stephen_w.
She does it voluntarilly during lunch, hence the "munching" comment, reding comprehension champion. furcafe
Hey, I wasn't trying to bust your chops, just trying to get you to lighten up on Alex, as your post came across as a little "pot calling the kettle black" in light of your own NoLa post. Dude, if your secretary has nothing better to do on her lunch break than scan your pix, that's fine w/me . . . BTW, was it your work "assignment" to photograph night scenes in the French Quarter? If not & you were taking them on your own time, then they're travel snaps to me. ------- "She does it voluntarilly during lunch, hence the "munching" comment, reding comprehension champion. stephen_w.
What if I told you that I lived there, would they still be travel snaps? Afterall, you don't know where I live, do you? I was vague wrt "assignment" on purpose, as you don't know what I do (maybe you do, if you remembered me).
