adrian_chester
i was wondering if anyone could provide me with some info on the E1 as i seem to be getting conflicting messages about it, i would like to know does it take AA batteries, does it in fact boost the frame rate of my EOS-3 (my cameras manual says it does, but some comments by a user of this site says it doesnt) and does it have vertical control (again camera manual says it does but ive read here that it doesnt. thanks in advance, adrian
pbryan
It does take AA's... 8 of them... with the 1N, you can only use the AA's, no lithiums... Not sure about the EOS-3, but it does boost the frame rate on my 1N. It has a vertical shutter release and AE lock button, but no control wheel... I believe the E2 has the control wheel... --Paul
brad_w
hi adrian - an eos 3 with PBE1 is my "regular"set-up. 1. the PB does take AA's (8 of them) 2. it does boost the frame rate from 4fps to about 6 fps. 3.equally importantly, the extra power goes to the AF and motor drive so the PB improves AF tracking while maintaining a high frame rate. 4. vertical grip functions work fine but it only has the shutter release and * button. no main dial or AF select button. hopefully that helps! -brad
randy_tamayo
The PBE1 takes 8 AA batteries (rechargeable, lithium, alkaline) When the PBE1 is attached, your drive will have the ff: options. - Single Shot - High (~3 fps) - High (~6.5 fps) - 2 second - 10 second It has a vertical shutter release but no dial. Vertical grip also has I think the AF lock button (I'll have to double check that though) cheers! Randy Note: If you use rechargeables in the PBE1 you'll eventually have a grip *heavier* than your camera body =)

ArminAce
Hello and sorry for bringing back this super old thread but can someone please confirm that the PBE1 does work with Eneloop rechargeables?
mike_sowsun
I use Eneloops with my EOS-1 and PB-E1 and they work great.
