timberwolf1
Civil contracts are here to stay with same sex 'marriages'. What challenges does this give to wedding photographers?
todd_k.
I imagine that some photographers (especially here in the south) might have ethical/religious problems with agreeing to photograph a same sex couple. I am also curious about the legality of refusing to accept a job based on the couples sexual preference.
evrim_icoz
Why don't we answer the question instead of going on a tangent? Just shoot like you would normally.
jsbc
You don't have to worry that much whether the film latitude can cover the contrast between white gowns and black tuxedos.
fotografz
Either take the job or not. Different strokes for different folks. No problem as far as I'm concerned. Last time I looked, their money was of the same as persuasion as mine.<div></div>
rich_dutchman1
Two incomes + no kids = $$$$$$$$$$$. I've done a few commitment ceremonies in D.C. (very large gay populatuion) and approached them the same way I'd approach any other wedding. I also include samples at bridal shows, from which many brides have passed my name to their gay friends. Responding to earlier comments, you're free to pass on a ceremony without any legal consequences, but to do so based on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. is a bad business decision. Gay populations are growing in the south, and anyone marketing to that demographic will get all the business.
james_h1
Depending on your community, this could help your business or destroy it. I am in a community which does not accept gays/ lesbians. But generally a big city is a bonus. I have talked to many photogrs and they have issues with doing such weddings. In my opinion, it is a huge untapped market and with less overall competition and yes, $$$$$ if you get the really flashy couples. I spoke to a waitress who said a bunch of regular guys will order beer, but the flashy gay guys order the expensive cocktails!!!!! Good Luck. You aren't being asked to sleep with them or change your own sexual orientation.
