ken2
Recently I am exploring the use of a 0.5x Wide Angle adapter on the Hassy 80mm CT* fitted with a B50-52mm adapter. I believe the results should be pretty good considering the quality of optics available out there. Imagine a 40mm/f2.8 lens for less than $200? Anyone with experience with such setups?? I saw the Kenko Pro II 0.5x wide angle adapter going for less than $100. Are they any good? Ken
art_haykin
I believe the Kenko KVC 05II, a 5.x wideangle video camera auxillary (or add-on) lens, is a now discontinued item that sold for around $50. These types of converters are notoriously poor optically, and I don't think a 0.5x will double your wideangle coverage. I think it would be more like a 60mm.Your best bet would be to try one out before you buy.
q.g._de_bakker
Now why would anyone want to buy a rather expensive MF camera, with ditto lens, and then go and put such a thing on it???

The result may be... well... one mustn't grumble, these gizmoes only cost about $100 after all, so....
...anyway, why??? johnmarkpainter
If you found something with a strange funky look to it, it could be interesting. Have you ever seen the "plungercam"? http://marktucker.com/plungercam/
mike_elek
This is like buying a Ferrari and then putting the cheapest gasoline in it and using retreads.
ulrik_neupert
Ken, the results are not acceptable in case you are not competing with a toy camera. BTW, I happen to be selling a mint 40 mm C-lens. Contact me off-list if you like. Ulrik
johnmarkpainter
Ken, If you are wanting it to look like a 40FLE, then you will be disappointed. But....it might be interesting. jmp
jsbc
Ken: It is more like buying a Porsche convertible, slash the softtop, and then use it to drive in dirt track in Burma during the Monsoon season! And of course, as Mike says, with re-treads. Could be interesting.
