Can anyone tell me on the Manfrotto serieswich tripod will be best for me? I'm going to use it for landscape andalso for studio setup. Thanks. tda
I have owned the 055 legset for a few years now and find the height to be its strongest factor. Being 6'4" i can comfortably look through the rear of the prism finder on my ETRSi with out having to use the centre extension post. It is quite heavy for field use, but the Screw in Manfrotto carry strap does ease the pain somewhat. I did make the mistake of investing in the 168 Ball head with quick release but its proved a bit or a nightmare, with sticky performance and the quick release plates have a large "bolt" on the underside which makes leaving them on the camera a problem. I would recommend other manufacturers for the ball head.
kevin_lackey
Although the 055/3021 series of tripods will hold the physical weight, at 1000mm effectively, the magnifacation is too great. I would step up to the 3236 tripod. For a head, I would also suggest the 3435QR ball head. Unlike the 168/3038, (which sucks if you don't have lots of weight on it) it's incredibly smooth, and easy to use. It's QR plate has a flat bottom, making the problem of leaving it on a non-issue. woodsman
I have a 3021W that does everything, a bit heavy but durable. Put a Kirk Ball head on it and never look back. $$$$$'s up front but you'll never need to invest in another set up unless you go Graphite just for weight. <R>
