ed_lowe
Hi everyone, My brother and I will be heading up to Acadia National Park in a few weeks to photograph the lupines; among other things. I know the general time frame for the peak bloom is the middle of June but I know that can vary from year to year depending on the weather. I was wondering if that date is about right for this year? We have been to Acadia a few times and have photographed the usual- Cadillac sunrise/sunset, Bass Harbor light, etc. Does anyone have any other gems you might want to share with us? Thanks for your help, Ed Lowe
bobatkins
Go for the small stuff. If you hike the trails, you'll find lots of small scale stuff like wildflowers, streams and small waterfalls. All the big vistas have been done 1000 times and you'll have no touble finding them. They're in all the guidebooks and on all the postcards! Wildlife is there too, but you need the right lens and patience (and luck). My advice is to buy a BIG detailed map at the start of the trip. I've often made the error of going somewhere, spending a week looking around at random with a park map, then realizing I should have bought the big map sooner than the day before I leave... Mid June is right for the lupines. I've no idea what this year will be like, but in mid-June you're pretty certain to find a few at peak bloom, whether they're at the end or beginning of the flowering! ed_lowe
Hi Bob, Thanks for the info. The larger map sounds like a good idea. I will see if I can pick one up from DeLORME. Thanks again, Ed
