mr_jingle
Hello all, I own a Eos 300 (Rebel 2000) and a EOS 100 (Elan) as a second body. I use the 300 with colour film and the 100 with b/w film, usually shooting 70% of colour and 30% of b/w. I've bought for a very reasonable price a EOS10 (10s) with Tamron 28- 200, teleconverter, flash and other ammenities. Now I'm going to sell either the 10 or the 100. I'm pretty satisfied of the 100 and being an amateur, I actually don't miss the features that the EOS10 has (faster fps, intervalometer, etc) but I do apreciate the possibility of leaving the film leader out and the capability of not fogging infrared film. On the whole Elan seems to be simpler but with some useful feature more (zooming flash, second dial on the back), 10s is more complete but somewhat quite outdated. Finally, 10s is in mint condition, Elan has the well knows issue of shutter bumper oiling and messing the blades. I've fixed this as suggested somewhere on this forum and seems to be ok but I know it will get back sooner or later. So, which to sell and which to keep ? Any suggestion/consideration would be apreciated. Thanks, FABIO
tom_burke3
I've currently got a 100 and I had a 10, but I've never had them simultaneously so it's hard to compare them. I have tended to use use them both as 'advanced point & shoot' cameras - mainly in P mode - and when viewed in that light I think they're quite comparable. The 100 is very light and maybe because of that feels a bit flimsy. On the other hand, I think it's a lot quieter than the 10. If in good condition either would be an excellent and simple camera. It's your choice.
charles.
i personally cant live without the rear dial, and the features that the 10 has that the 100 doesnt dont really compell me. so i would keep the 100, though i havent played with a 10 for more than a minute or two. you might also consider selling both and getting a eos5/a2. richard thompson www.fotoz
I've owned both in the past. They are pretty much of a muchness. Here in the UK, the second hand value of each in mint condition is very different though, the 10 usually for sale at twice the price of the 100. If its the same where you live, I would keep the 100, and sell the 10 for double the money....
suman
I would prefer to keep Elan anytime over Rebel200. Elan is the most silent in canon lineup, fairly fast AF, custom functions and low light capability makes it a far better body than Rebel 2000. yakim_peled1
Let's see if I got it right. You now have a Rebel, an Elan 100 and the 10 and you are wondering whether to sell the 100 or the 10. Am I missing something? Why not sell the Rebel? If I were in your shoes I'd certainly sell this one. Happy shooting ,Yakim.
mr_jingle
Thanks to all, some detail more: in Italy the price of a second hand Elan is about 200 Euros, for a 10 you can expect to pay 150-180 (don't ask me why...) I don't want to sell the rebel for several reason: first of all it's been gave to me for my degree and has a great value for me, moreover I think it's very light and tiny that is an excellent camera to travel with if you do not want to waste space and weight in you backpack. I agree with charles: rear dial is a great plus, and i also agree on the idea of selling both and looking for a 5x or even 3x series.Anyway, any further suggestion would be apreciated.
