aim sirjimbob
So apparently my lenses shutter is broken. I used it flawlessly last weekend at 1/400 but upon further inspection, simply watching the hole open, it became obvious that the lens appeared to only have one working shutter speed. Is this a common occurance? How much is repair? I bought the "Mint" item on ebay and am debating fixing it or send it back for a refund. Its not the camera body as I've tried other RB lenses on my RZ. Thanks.
peter_witkop
The RZ works with an electronic shutter, and most cameras with electic shutters have a single mechanical shutter speed that will work then battery is dead, could that be the problem? Since the RB lenses have mechanical shutters, they would probably work just fine in that case. Peter
aim sirjimbob
No, No, No... The lens in question is a mechanical RB67 lens being used on a RZ. It's the lens that is the problem, this is already fact. So what about broken mechanical shutters in lenses? Is this a common occurance? How much is repair? I bought the "Mint" item on ebay and am debating fixing it or send it back for a refund. Its not the camera body as I've tried other RB lenses on my RZ. winfried_buechsenschuetz1
I don`t think the shutter is broken. Leaf shutters very seldomly have mechanical defects. In your case, I think the cam follower of the speed escapement is stuck, and the shutter should be cleaned and re-lubricated. This should pose no big problem to any competent repairman.
