george_kuldhardhis
I was looking at Sigma 50-500 lens (for Canon EOS). It has 86mm filter size with coarse pitch. What exactly do they mean by "coarse pitch" I do not know where to post this.. There is no category for Sigma!!!, and general archived is closed ! - Thanks
scott_ferris
Hi George, I think you'll find it refers to the size (threads per inch) of the thread, obviously it's 86mm diameter. I haven't come across pitch differances in filter threads before so it might be a Sigma ploy to get you to buy "special" 50-500 type filters, however if you order filters it would be worth checking with the supplier or better the manufacturer. Take care, Scott.
