benstraw
Hello,
I recently purchased a Zykkor lens. It says ZYKKOR MC AUTO 1:2.8 f=28mm. Ser. No. 8212072 used. It came in a bag of loose camera equipment w/ a Nikkor lens, so I was thinking it was a Nikon fit lens, but I have no idea.
Will it damage my camera to mount this lens and see if it works? If you know any details about this lens I'd appreciate it, is it Auto Focus, Auto exposure, etc... or a link to a zykkor site or refernce would be great.
I've been googling all morning and have found nothing.
Thanks for looking!
Ben. gary_watson
It's only a wild guess but it might be an old Minolta-mount lens.MC(meter-coupled) was the code used on all early(SRT-series body) Minolta optics. Jam it onto a Nikon body and you'll probably never remove it intact."Auto" just refers to auto-diaphragm, which means the lens only stops down from wide-open(in this case, f/2.8)to the selected "taking" aperture when the shutter's tripped.Sounds like a generic, off-brand lens. art_haykin
My guess is also that it has a Minolta MC mount, but compare it with the Nikon mount VERY carefully before installing. This lens came out in '84 in 2 versons: wide, and wide macro, and sold for around $100. Now, they're being offered for around $50, and seem to be getting few takers. pavel_studenkov
And I guess that MC stands for Multi-Coated. For what it's worth, I have a Zykkor 135/2.8 in Nikon AIS mount, which works very well.
benstraw
Thanks everybody, my guess was for MC was multi-coated as well. It sounds like i could damage my camera body by experimenting w/ it so I'll bring it into my local camera shop and see what they think.
kelly_flanigan1
It might be a Canon mount too: Zykkor, 28mm f2.8 FD #8213xxx (9++) $
benstraw
Went to a camera shop and found it was in fact a Nikon mount, though it is not auto exposure or auto focus w/ my Nikon F65, but it does have a nice wide angle of view. xavier_law
I just bought one (for Nikon) from ebay (US$33) and wait for testing.
filmevolution
I just got one Zykkor lens in eBay too and I'm waiting for it to test it with my D80. Hope it works. I must say I thought twice before placing a bid, but since it was only ten dollars I went for it.
