sd_woods
The little knob for rewinding the film is bloody stiff, it makes no different turning the knob around the shutter release button. I have tried using pliers to get a bit of leverage on the rewind knob, but it's really not practical and it just tears the film anyway.
If you want pictures I'll get them.
dhbebb
Are you pushing the collar around the shutter release down before turning it slightly to lock it? (I think clockwise, I have got a couple of Feds but no Zorki handy). Forget the pliers, if you force-rewind the film over a stationary sprocket, you will shred it.
h._p.
If you get the top plate off, you'll find there's a lever that should be pushed down by the collar. Chances are that either this is sticking or the base of the collar is damaged.
sd_woods
I tried pushing down the lever at it is turned, makes no difference.
I'm not sure I want to go as far as dismantling the camera just yet, perhaps I'll wait and see if there are any other suggestions before I try that one.
lennert
It deffinately should be: push down the colar, turn clockwards to block it in the "down" position. It should rewind smooth. Maby you already forced something.
An alternative that might work: put on the lenscap and put on "B" with a release cable. If I'm not mistaken, this also unlocks the rewind mechanism.
sd_woods
I don't have a lens cap or a cable release. Would it work the same if I just got made sure no light got into the lens(with a black cloth or something), and held down the shutter myself?
lennert
If you still have a hand left while holding a black cloth and holding the shutter down, you can do that. but make sure there is NO light coming in! your shutter will be open all the time.
