petergustafson
i have the 18-70mm and today very randomly it started getting stuck up when zooming, as if there some piece broken inside, the stickup point changes and i can sometimes make it pass the point but it still stick at the other points. im travelling at the moment so considering taking it apart...is this safe? Thanks for and ideas!
walterh
It may be safe for you but not safe for the lens. A zoom lens is always a mechanic "miracle" so just because you ask you tell me you should not atttempt to repair it :-P Since you are traveling you might just try to live with it and handle the lens very gentle. I wish you luck and perhaps you can still make good use of the lens. Once back home consider that "almost new" used lenses are offered at low prices in many countries. It may be cheaper to get a good used one than to have your lens repaired (or is the lens still under warranty?). Despite its low price it it a nice lens indeed but perhaps it was not built to the standard of the pro lenses.
juanjo_viagran
that lens sell used in MINT for around 200 bucks, so if you open the lens make sure that the experience is worth that much..
kevin_feese
I've got the same problem. Initially the sticking point would change, but now there is constant range of motion. I'm going to try to open it up because I read a different post indicating that sometimes a screw inside becomes loose and hinders motion.
