matt_difran2
I have decided that I want to buy a half decent zoom lens for my Maxxum 7000i. I am choosing between a 100-200 F/4.5, and a 70-210 f/4 MACRO, both from KEH. A few questions...no, only one. For the things that I do (serious amateur stuff, portraits, landscapes, TRAVEL, candids, etc...nothing professional), and the knowledge that I already have the 50 f/1.7, and the 35-70 f/4 MACRO (both Maxxum), what would you reccomend? The only shortcomings with the 70- 210 is it's weight and length, although I do not know whether the 100-200 is lighter or shorter, but I would suspect so. I have heard such great things about the 70-210 that it is what I am leaning towards, but I just want to make sure. Thanks a lot.
bacsa
lean harder, it's the good direction.
fmueller
Unless you can get the 100-200mm for free, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Not that I have used the 100-200mm, but the 70-210mm offers such excellent value for money that it is hard for anything else to compete.
steven_hupp3
I've been using the 70-210 lately--landscapes and plant closeups--and the sharpness and color are great. I have not used it wide open yet, so I can't speak to that. Close focussing makes it a very versitile and useful lens.
