greg_clements
After considerable thought I am now about to purchase a Pentax Digital Spotmeter. I would ideally like to buy one that has been modified by Zone V1 Studios/Calumet. However I heard somewhere that some photographers doubt the accuracy of current modifications done by Zone V1 -now that Calumet are in control. I also heard that meters said to be modified by Zone V1 are really unmodified meters with the Zone label attached. Can anyone verify the truth in this as I do not want to spend the extra money on a "modified" meter. On another note. I would like to make contact with Mr Ritter- ex Zone V1 guru. I would appreciate it if someone could pass on his e-mail address to me. (I tried an email address but there was no response.) Thank you very much for any help you may be able to offer me. With very best regards Greg Clements
michael_briggs2
Richard Ritter has an ad in Shuttebug for the repair and calibration of Pentax and Soligar meters, and for work on large format cameras. The email is rrlg4mat@sover.net and phone number 802-365-7807.
alec1
The modified meters are very worthwhile to own and use. With respect to "stickers", there are two: one is a zone system sticker available for any Pentax meter owner to apply to help him visualize the relationships of f/stops and zones. A truly modified meter has that sticker [around the f/stop scale] PLUS another sticker on the side which states the meter is MODIFIED. There is an abundance of user reports validating the usefulness of the modified meter. Go for it! You'll not be disappointed. Richard Ritter can tell you all about the modifications - he used to make the modifications for Fred Picker. He now repairs meters and modifies and repairs cameras as well. I highly recommend him too.

kevin_kolosky
Greg I have owned one that I purchased from Zone VI when Fred Picker was still there. They are a great meter becasue they work well with filters. You will not be dissapointed if you get one. Kevin
