Zone focusing

I took my Minox 35 GL out on the streets, feeling a bit dubious because of the

zone focusing. I'm not that hot at estimating distance. The pictures that came

back are all in focus, some in critical focus. Here's a shot I took from three

feet away (I thought it was three, and apparently I was right). Amazingly sharp

with a three-dimensional feeling.

While the masses have become used to auto-focus cameras, the 35mm Minox presents a certain opportunity for a photographer to go it alone, and receive confirmation that his/her own binolcular vision and depth perception indeed works.

I have to say that the DOF really helps when you're not sure of the distance of your subject.

After some practice, it is not difficult to estimate distance.

 

The pair of human eyes is a natural rangefinder, the distance between

to eyes acts like the baseline of rangefinder. You can make good use

of your godsend rangefinder and measure distance quite accurately.
