The first thing I did was run a test roll through it, but I was disappointed to see the lens and viewfinder were way out of adjustment. At the same time, I was able to advance the film, although with the broken lever, it was a bit uncomfortable on the fingers. I went to the Classic Camera Repair Forum, and asked for some help. Rob_the_waste Posted December 2, 2006 Author Share Posted December 2, 2006 It turned out the mirror angle was way off. I took the top off of the camera, and I took off a little more than I had to. The disc part of the angle is made of aluminum, and I had another piece of aluminum welded onto it at work. It looks bizarre now, but it is quite comfortable and functional. Rob_the_waste Posted December 2, 2006 Author Share Posted December 2, 2006 When I first got this camera, it looked like I found it on the bottom of the Don River, all covered in green crusties. I used the buffing wheel on my bench grinder to try and clean it up. Maybe it's because it is only barely an SLR, being adapted by the guys at Krasnagorsk from one of their Zorki rangefinder bodies by the addition of a mirror box and a pentaprism. It?s still got the stepped top plate where the rangefinder used to be, and the Leica screw thread lens mount. The shutter is the Zorki 1/30 to 1/500 cloth focal plane shutter with revolving speed dial (also copied from Leica). It's a kind of evolutionary missing link. I also find it totally charming.</P><P>You've got the Helios lens, which is one of the best.
