bernard_frank
I am sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the answer. Are the Zeiss ZM lenses in M mount available in Canada, or the US for that matter, and where? Thanks for your help.
billsr
Tony Rose in Thousand Oaks, CA, Popflash dot com, sells Zeiss lenses. Very good prices, as well!
Prof-K
Also, Stephen Gandy @ Camera Quest sells them. I am in Toronto and I bought from him. Great service and price. He told me it'll take 10 days to ship, and it arrived in just 3 days.
nasmformyzombie
Rich Pinto at The Photo Village in NYC has ZM lenses. B&H also sells them.
bernard_frank
Thanks, friends. I'll look into that. Shakil, how much did Canada Customs charge you to import the lens?
Prof-K
Hey Bernard, Canadian customs usually charges 15% on items bought from US sent to ON. However, Stephen was nice enough to categorize it as a "gift item", and I was charged 0%!!! Cheers!
robert goldstein
Hey, Shakil, You just blew Steven Gandy's cover. He'll probably be getting a visit from the IRS soon.
andrew robertson
Remember B&H sells these lenses too. I know it's not as hip to order from them, but I have done a great deal of business with them over the years and have always been delighted with the experiences I have had. Prof-K
BTW, why should IRS be concerned abt enforcing Canadian laws? Nevertheless, I found the tax thing to be very arbitrary. I mean, even if its a genuine gift item, the customs sometimes charges taxes, and sometimes they could care less (even for new taxable products, declared as a product and not as a gift). Well, whatever...
andrew robertson
"BTW, why should IRS be concerned abt enforcing Canadian laws?" Comity. It is quite common for governments to collaborate on a case.
