monochrome11
recently purchased a well loved Super Ikomat 530/16 with 80mm f2.8 tessar compur rapid lens... it takes surprisingly sharp pictures (considering the lens appear to be a little cloudy and the shutter is sticky and slow)...however, after shooting a test roll of XP2 (C-41 process B&W -it was cheap) i'm looking for something more contrasty, with better tone and more character (the XP2 looks flat)... can anyone with experience using this camera recommend some suggestions? open to colour negs and trans film as well... thanks in advance... david_beal___richmond_hts.
That lens is good to f11 and adequate to f8. That said, in bright sun you could shoot Delta 100 (at 80) or Plus-X or FP4. If the light dims, switch to Delta 400 or HP5+. If you can get it, try the OLD Tri-X. Great cameras. I carry an Ikonta 645 folder with me all the time. No rangefinder, no flash, no bells and whistles; but I've gotten some amazing shots. Best wishes. mike_elek
I've shot some TMax 100 with this, as well as Agfapan 100. Liked the results from the Agfapan better. In general, an excellent camera, though I'd get the lens and shutter serviced.
art_haykin
This is a Zeiss 6 x 6cm (2 1/4" x 2 1/4") folding rangefinder bellows type medium format camera, and was made by Zeiss from the early 1930's to mid 1950's with Tessar 80/f2.8 Lens. The above advice is correct...get it serviced. If you want more contrast with B&W, use a conventional B&W film, then underexposed a bit and overprocess a bit.
