Zeiss 85mm f1.4 lens

Just got this lens - it is soooo sweeeet on the Maxxum 7. As made for this

camera as the 24-105 is...meaning, perfectly balanced together. Blows away the

85 canon EOS I had with my old Elan 7E. You can literally SEE the sharpness

thru the viewfinder. Seriously, wide open I can see a difference in sharpness

between this, and say, my Minolta 50 1.4 (which is a great lens too BTW). Great

for manual focusing. I like its ability to focus closely to .85m. Well, that not

exactly macro range, but it is much better than the 1.0m limit of the Canon. At

any rate, it allows me to fill the frame with my 2 year old sons face, which is

great. And creamy smooth bokeh, at 1.4 on full frame, it blurs everything out

perfectly, isolating the subject. I will post a few pics when I get the chromes back.

Oh, did I mention how sexy this lens looks on the 7?

Cant wait till Sony's full frame comes out this Fall to use with this beauty.

Congrats on your new lens Randall :-)

Was a lens that once appealed to me. But since I've decided to stick with APS-C for a while, I probably wont look for one for quite some time.

I'm getting a lot of joy out of the 58/1.2 lens, which gives an ideal FOV on APS-C, but of course a very different lens to the Zeiss.

Please share some pics when you feel like it. For everyone else considering this lens, go over to dyxum.com & you will see plenty of high quality samples in the lens database.
