john_kasaian1
Momma went with her girlfriend to see a chick flick so I took the kidlets up to the Historical Park in Wawona for the afternoon to ride the mudwagon and have lunch at the old Wawona Hotel(best chicken strips I've ever seen on a 'kiddie menu') The traffic on 41 to Yosemite National Park is back to normal---whatever Caltrans did with the casino traffic seems to have worked. I've just recently gotten used to the idea of seeing a cappuccino stand on 120 in Tioga Pass, now I've got got to get used to seeing a glitzy casino illuminating the oputskirts of Coarsegold (aka: rattlesnake heaven) 24-7!----Cheers & Happy Motoring! john_kasaian1
Nigel, The Point is: traffic is back to normal after the initial gridlock caused by the opening of a casino. Just in case any Angelenos going to Yosemite would prefer to spend time making pictures of something other than tail lights of the cars ahead (Moonrise Over Mitsubishi?), I initially posted this to advise other photographers of the situation so they could plan an alternate route to Yosemite Nat'l Park from the South.----Cheers!;-)
tim_atherton2
I think the casino's rather appropriate considering modern Yosemite's modern roots in the Gold Rush - maybe thjey could add a CanCan cabaret like the one at Diamond Tooth Gerties in the Yukon...? That's kinda fun after a hard day slaving over a dim ground glass :-)
john_kasaian1
tim, I'll have to check that out for you(what are friends for?) Might be a viable alternative to supporting Delaware North, which has the concessions within the Park. AFAIK the coldest beer in the area is at the 22 Mile House where 41 starts up 'the hill' Cheers! ;-)

john_kasaian1
.....hmmmm....tourists from the UK would probably think something is wrong!
bob.
The serving temperature of British beer (like the quantity of rain) is often maliciously maligned.... Even Guinness comes in two temperature grades in most pubs (well, most city pubs anyway): "normal" cold and "why can't I feel my tongue anymore" extra-cold.... Admittedly, traditional ales are served chilled rather than ice-cold as the idea is to taste them, not to just chuck them down your neck as fast as possible (that's what lager was invented for).... ;-)
john_kasaian1
Bob, ...and all this time I thought you folks drank warm beer on account of Lucas fridges! .......Cheers!;-)
