Yet another 35GL battery question

Dug up and old Minox 35GL in practically mint condition.

Did a lot of reading on the battery and I can't seem to be able to

find a replacement for the CR-1/3N.

Instead, I found a 2CR-1/3N at The Source by Circuit City (Canadian

version of Radioshack). Does anyone know if the 2CR-1/3N will work in

the 35GL? 6v at 160 mah - Diameter 13mm Height 25m

Here are some links on the batteries.

Sanyo version

I am tempted to think the 2 prior to CR-1/3N just means that there are

2x CR-1/3N? Any help on this is much appreciated!

You need a conversion kit for the 2 cells of CR_1/3N from minox. It will let you use 2 cells. It's called "Power pack"

Yes. "2" prior to CR-1/3N just means 2 cells stacked up to make up "6V"

(Or they(Circuit City) have already made the cells(3V each) to fit px-27 size?, by stacking them up and putting them in a tube or something so they can hold their positions in Minox battery hole.)

If you order a power pack from Minox,

You might experience the ignorance of Minox Germany when you order the power pack : )

You don't need the conversion kit. The 6V works fine, even for Velvia (at least on a 35GT).

Do a search on some past thread responses in this forum from me that explains how to make your own adapter for free (using the old mercury battery), or you can get hold of the Silver Oxide equivalent (size).

I've been using my "home conversion" kit for a few years now, and never had any problems.

See Small Battery Company http://www.submin.com/forsale/shops/smallbattery/index.htm for a range of replacement and equivalent batteries.

Also check out http://www.7dayshop.com 7dayshop.com for

price comparisons.

An old mercury battery is very good for getting the shell

off and you can then use silver button cells. You have to be careful when

closing up the shell that it is tight otherwise it will jam in the camera.

Silver cells PX27 are available from a number of sources and any good

photographic shop can order them in. They have good shelf life so having a spare is a good idea.
