rogerwb
Looks like pics OF your Yashica Mat. How about some pics FROM your Yashica Mat? Camera looks in good shape. I would rather have one of these than the plasticy ones with built in meters.

mark_hahn
pleasing photos! are the prints sharper? the reason I ask is that they have a similar look and feel to my Y-44 images... which I kind of like, but sometimes long for sharper... and am always looking at Yashica Mats and Rollei's. tony_lockerbie
The Yashicas have good lenses and are a nice camera to use. Also great for those low angle shots, like the one of the dog. Thanks for sharing Tony
luis triguez
Mike, Awesome pictures! I had a Yashica Mat many years ago and she was a fabulous camera to me. As Tony says: for low angle shots is very practical (once you're accustomed to the evil right/left, left/right view). Like Rolleiflexes is insuperable for children portraits due you don't need to kneel down to be at the same level than them. Hope you don't mind other example.<div></div>
gatorgums
Thanks very much for all the comments folks. I am using an HP Scanjet 4300C scanner from a thrift. ( 1200 X 600 DPI!) Consequently as these scans do not do justice to the prints. I would describe the lens as very sharp, in terms of resolving power,( especially for distant photos stopped to f16 ), but with a pleasing overall "quiet" tone. Good contrast and lovely out of focus back grounds when opened up about 5.6 etc. It can not match, in my humble opinion ,the POWER of the German Zeiss, but is a pretty good runner up! ( subjective opinion ,of course). I'm happy that you posted your own Luis, no problem at all. Its' always good to see comparisons.
