Yashica MAT 124 Focus not so easy

I've been using my Yashica MAT 124 for a while now and still find it not so easy to focus, especially in low light. Are there other systems or TLRs that are easier to focus? Does a micro prism help in low light, and could I get a new screen for my Yashica?

there might be a screen available for it with a split prism or something similar. Every other MF camera I've used has had some sort of focusing aid on the screen.
I focus the 124 by going past the point of focus and then back again. I've never really been able to quickly focus it but I generally get it pretty well spot on. It's helped by the fact that the viewing lens actually has a wider aperture than the taking lens at its widest so there's a bit of leeway there.

With its f/2.8 viewing lens the MAT-124 are normally pretty bright as TLR finders go...you might remove and clean the ground-glass and see if that helps. Are you using the flip-up magnifier? I almost always focus and view thru the magnifier on TLR's and the waist-level finder on my 'blad since placing the eye against the magnifier blocks off most of the external light from the finder.
