chris rasmussen
Hello, Has anyone here shot with BOTH the PD-150 and the XL-1? I would be most interested in your feedback on the qualitative difference - is the output from the PD-150 is noticably better, being DVCAM format? Thanks! mike_scott2
Chris- We've got a PD-150 at work - nice little camera. I haven't used an XL-1, so I can't compare the two. Head over to www.vidpro.org. I would expect this has been discussed in their archived forum, or you could sign up and ask them the question. I'm sure there are folks in that group who can help you... steve_phillipps
We use them at work for some special cases, and they're about the same quality-wise. It is a slightly different look, Canon vs Sony's usually is, but neither is better or worse than the other-it's very subjective. Pd150 is smaller, XL-1 has interchangeable lenses-depends what you want to do with it. Neither do 16:9 any good, though. We shoot 4:3 and convert it in the Avid-still not great though. lihan_chen2
I use both and the video quality is about the same in DV format. However, only PD-150 can shoot in DVCAM format and the quality is much nicer. Lihan
