Hi,

I have the HP8450 but I cannot reach a good fine print. I use on my

monitor the Spyder 2 to setup the and use PS CS2 to print. Could

someone describe his workflow in order to obtain a very good fine

print in color and BW?

I don't know but looks like that there are a little difference on my

printed works around 1EV if I compare them with the monitor even if I

use the best HP papers and HP inks. My first doubt is how to choice

the right paper on the PS window and in the printer driver. Further

if I check the box to print in BW in the driver window, it advise me

that I cannot let to program to determinate the color, so how to

proceed?

the 1EV difference may depends on the printer profile. I don't know anything about the quality of HP profiles 'cause I'm using an epson, but you'd better either install the most updated profiles for your printer or profile the printer by yourself using for example Colorvision. Once drivers are updated you must let photoshop to handle color conversion and make sure you picked the correct media either from the print window of PS CS and then from the printer driver. You must also be very careful that the printer driver won't handle color again (there's should be something like a "dont't manage colors" option in your printer driver).

Are you setting the color space correct for your image on 'Color' tab? colorsmart sRGB or Adobe RGB?

Sometimes Color>Advanced Color Settings press>Color tone+5 and Cyan-5 works well.

Or, www.printerprofiler.com, will make you a beautiful custom print profile for your HP8450. You will be very happy.
