Wireless syncing of SB-80 with non Nikon flash

An SB-80 running in wireless slave mode will turn on and off

in sync with a master speedlight connected to a Nikon body.

But if I want to use this speedlight in wireless/auto mode with a non

Nikon system.. will that work ? Specifically I want it to sync with

my Olympus T-32 on an OM4 body. I know it turns ON as I have tried

that already, but what I can't tell is if it turns off when the

Olympus does. Thanks for any comments.

The SB-80DX should mimic the flash duration of the master

speedlight as long as the master has a flash duration of

approximately 1/1,000 to 1/42,000. The master could be a Vivitar

283 for all the SB-80DX cares. Ive used the Nikon SU-4 TTL

slaves with SB-15 and SB-24 Speedlights in a wireless macro setup

but I have not used the SB-80DX so double check your SB-80DX

manual for specifics. YMMV.<br>

you can down load a manual at Nikon website in the United Kingdom.

Look for "Request a manual." or something similar. The

manual will be a high quality PDF file.<br>

In other words the slave brainlessly starts and stops when the

master unit starts and stops (even someone elses speedlight)

as long as the slave is within range of the master.<br>

To verify that the your setup is working correctly shoot some

film or silicone.
