Winter walk (now with total lack of snow)

<p>Last month I bought a black-paint Leica II from a fellow shutterbug here in the Netherlands. The same guy who I bought a Leica M3 and a Leica IIIa-to-IIIf conversion from in the past. Plus a few nice goodies.<br /><br />So in the two week leading up to Christmas I loaded it up with some Agfa Superpan 200 and screwed the black-paint 90mm f/4 Elmar and shot some pictures with it during some of my wanderings . <br /><br />With the black-nose VIDOM finder on it, it definitely <a href="http://www.flibweb.nl/flibweb/cpg143/albums/userpics/10001/LeicaII.jpg">looks the business</a>!</p>

<p>The seller wasn't kidding when he said the Leica was one of the smoothest he's ever handled. Pure joy in operation. <br />Need to buy a nice half case for it. Mr Zhou or Luigi perhaps.</p>

<p>Wow--Rick--great stuff! Mr Clochard is definitely an interesting fellow...the 90mm does a great job.<br>

<p>Thanks. <br /><br />This Leica brings my complete set back to a nice round number of 10 bodies...again.... ;)<br /><br />The 90/4 Elmar is one of the great underappreciated Leitz lenses in my opinion.</p>

<p>Just curious Rick, what is the story behind the fellow with the box camera. </p>

<p>A truly wonderful outfit...you will really enjoy using it...they look great too! Like John I was also wondering about the man with the camera.</p>

<p>He was one of the street actors, like the beggar for the Dickensian style Festival. I'm not sure if he actually had any kind of real camera in there. I think the thing was just for show in his street photographer act. He was in the middle of taking a group photo of a mesmerized family. <br />There were a lot more folks about in "period" dresses, but I didn't actually photograph any of them as around 2pm a rainstorm hit the town and I was lucky to get a ride home with my parents.</p>

<p>Great stuff from a truly classic kit. Interesting series of pics, <strong>Rick</strong>, and it certainly doesn't look like my preconceptions of a harsh Dutch winter. The clochard certainly looks pitiful!</p>

<p>I have plenty of snow that you are welcome to.As does most of the US</p>

<p>It was the warmest 6th of January in recorded meteorological history here. <br />Welkom to the Dutch Riviera. <br />Though we should be back to freezing before the end of the month.</p>
