ted_white2
I have just acquired a Yashica 124G, which appears to work just fine. However, in reading comments about the camera here and there, allcaution against using the camera without a lens hood, as dread flarewill surely result. Thus my question. Thanks Ted WhiteBisbee, AZ
jim_boltz
A Bay-I lens hood from any manufacturer will fit your 124G just fine.
kerkko_kehravuo
Bayonets, I guess, are ment to be the same. Although I have seen a Rollei lens hood that did not fit Yashica D without some rework. As well there has been Rollei style hinged lens cover of Yashica C that did not fit Rollei. Kerkko K. bacsa
My original Bay-1 rollei lens hood (using the *outer* bayonet) does NOT fit on my yashica D. It's just a bit too small. The problem does not show up with filters, which use the inner bayonet of the mount. Annoying but true. Could be that the 124G's bay size is somewhat better matched with Bay1. roman_sonnleitner1
Same problem here: got a Baj. 1 Rollei hood for my YashicaMat. and it does not fit... - probably due to tolerances being slightly different?
ted_white2
Thank you all very much. Looks like it's 3 to 1 against it fitting. I might just buy it anyway and, if it does not fit, I'll just relist it on ebay. I'm going to try a roll through the 124G tomorrow and, armed with foreknowledge, will avoid making pictures in sunlight until a lens shade comes my way. jim_boltz
Ted - Favor us with a post when you get the answer about the Bay-1 fit.
scott smitherman
I have two Bay 1 hoods and they both fit my 124G, although a little snug. They slip on my rolliecord III with no effort, so I imagine there is a small differnece you should be able to work around.
markplawchan
On both my 124 and Yashica C the lens hood from the Rolleiflex WILL work--however, there is an "annoyance factor"....it doesn't fit "exactly", and I need to "wrestle' with it (but it works)....on the Rolleiflex it fits perfectly and goes on smoothly. Go figure.
kevin_mcdonald1
A Rollei Bay 1 hood fits my late Yashica D (with Yashinon lens), tho as others say, it's a bit tight.
ted_white2
You guys are great. The information you provided convinced me to go ahead acquiring one, and I just won a Rollei Bay 1 on ebay for $21.55, so when it comes I'll let you all know, though I suspect it just might fit, albeit a bit tightly. ted_white2
Bay 1 Rollei lens hood came yesterday. It fits, albeit a bit snug. No vignetting (I didn't expect any). Improves the camera's looks, an unexpected bennie. A tourist tried to buy it from me today. Now the next question is: Where do I get filters, and where/how do they fit? bacsa
a tourist?heheh Filters, they are also called Bay 1. Rollei, Yashica and many others produced them, albeit you won't find lots of them *new*. They go into the bayonet mount. Some people prefer to use a bay1-screwmount adapter, to a screwmount size that's common, like, 39mm, 49mm, wehatever - so they can use their SLR etc filters on the TLR. Some 32mm B+W slip-on filters (used for folders e.g., long time ago) will just fit into the bay1 mount reversed - but notall of them:) depends, again, on the small deviations in the diameter.
