david_kelly1 Posted October 14, 2002 Share Posted October 14, 2002 A pal just gave my daughter a 100-300 f5.6 AIS, the snap-on hood for which is long gone. I want to equip this sharp old monster with a more secure screw-on hood and all the lists recommend the HN-24, which has a front inside diameter of 78.5 mm. Since this is the hood for many current 70-210 zooms, I thought somebody out there might know whether the 77mm snap cap has enough extra travel in its grippers to stay secure in it.
