ntv666
Hi Guys

I am in search of good wide angle lens for the landscape shooting. I have AF-S 17-55 mm f/2.8. But this is not that much wide in D300 also I can not use it in D700. I am thinking of Tokina 11-66 mm f/2.8 or 12-24 Tokina f/4 .But both the lens are only for DX. The Nikon 14-24 mm f/2.8 is too costly. How to go about this confusion?
hans_janssen
Sigma 12-24 DG is a FX lens. DG is for FF. Or a used Sigma 15-30, but that is not so wide on a D300, but I like it on my D700, you can find them 'cheap'.
eric_arnold
sell the 17-55 and get a 17-35.
rarmstrong
The AF Nikkor 20 mm f2.8D is a good choice for a prime wide lens for both cameras for about $550. For a wide zoom the Sigma 12-24 may be your best option.
ShunCheung
Trying to use the same wide-angle lens on both DX and FX and get good results on both is a futile effort. Those are very different formats so that you need separate lenses. Otherwise, you'll be making major compromises.
Two23
As an ultrawide lover, I agree with Shun above. My solution would be a Tokina 11-16m f2.8 for the D300 and a Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 for the D700.
Kent in SD
tedms gallery
Anyone see, or try the 10-20 Sigma fixed 3.5?
bsd230
I would also agree with the 17-35 for the D700. That is a great lens and would be very wide on a FX sensor. Of course it is about as expensive as the 14-24 which you could use on both cameras as well. I agree with shun, your better off getting lenses that work best on each body.
