cd thacker
I noticed recently that i was no longer receiving alerts. A quick check of my photo.net I.D. page indicates this:
e-mail to this member is bouncing, and alerts have been disabled.
I then checked my workspace, which says, Your photo.net email address is dougthacker@photo.net which forwards to [. . .] then it gives my current email address.
The only thing is, I changed my address on this site back in March from the photo.net domain to the current one with Yahoo, precisely so this wouldn't happen. (Further, Yahoo's servers are extremely reliable, I check my email nearly every day, and I'm never evan close to over quota. So I can't imagine why emails would be bouncing.)
My address on this site is listed, correctly, at the yahoo domain; yet, for some reason, the site has it suddenly listed as a forwarding photo.net address, and there's no way for me to fix it. Can someone please help?
hkbmac
Just an idea, but maybe Yahoo's mail spamguard is thinking that the alerts are spam. This could happen if a lot of Yahoo! members marked the alerts as spam in order to filter them to their bulk mail folder. You can call Yahoo and ask them if this is happening. 408-349-3300
cd thacker
Thanks Brian, but I have spamguard turned off. BTW, do you by any chance have a relative named Alexa?
mottershead
Hi Doug, a lot of accounts had the "email_bouncing" flag set a few weeks ago. It was done semi-automatically, and (as I recall) the flag was set if 10 messages had bounced over the previous few days. However, beyond this, there was no attempt to distinguish between a "mailbox is full" bounce and a more permanent type of bounce.
cd thacker
Thanks for the feedback, Brian (the last Brian). But my I.D. page still says
e-mail to this member is bouncing, and alerts have been disabled
and messages are still presumably being forwarded through the photo.net email server. I don't have an email address at photo.net. Haven't had one since March. So this shouldn't be happening.
Please, can you correct the email address problem? The only email address that should be listed or in use here for me is the one at yahoo.
And could you turn the alerts back on, too? Thanks. cd thacker
Just to be clear(er):
At one time I had a photo.net email address. All my messages were forwarded from that address to my yahoo address.
In March, I turned off the forwarding; and listed my yahoo address here, in place of the photo.net address. I made this change because my photo.net subscription was about to expire, and I didn't want any problems with my email.
Now, suddenly, and all by itself, the photo.net forwarding address is back, and I'm not getting my messages. The reason it isn't working, in all liklihood, is because I am no longer a paying photo.net subscriber. If I have to be a paying subscriber, in order to have correct information listed about my email, then please delete my account.
cd thacker
If I keep harping on this, is that going to hasten someone fixing the problem? Or at least acknowledge that there is a problem? Or will harping make it take longer?
pmj
Doug, no need to keep harking -- I received your email and will look into it tonight, maybe tomorrow. Hang on!
