Colin O
I recently bought an original lens hood for my Rolleiflex 3.5F. The hood engages with the lens bayonet of course, and rotates about an eighth of a turn before clicking into position. At this point, the hood is "square", with the top/bottom of the hood parallel to the camera base, and the sides of the hood perpendicular to the camera base. However, it's also possible to continue rotating the hood beyond square, and it clicks into position again after another few degrees' rotation. In this position, the hood is not square - it's slightly askew - but it does still feel like I am doing something that is "by design". What is the reason for allowing the hood to rotate beyond square and click into this slightly-angled position?
Ed_Ingold
There is a spring loaded detent which engages a notch in the bayonet mount. The detent is worn, and/or you are simply overriding it.
