jdrose
I've read that they are great for producing negatives that you intend contact print but I can't seem to find out why.

As all I do is contact printing so this is a very interesting revelation. Any insight would be appreciated.
leicaglow
For landscapes, they give a great etherial look, and for portraiture or still life, they give a distinctly soft look. If you blow them up, they are not very sharp. That's why they are likely to be contact printed. It's a personal preference as to whether you like the lens. I could see it being useful to have, but it wouldn't be at the top of my list for a real shooter.
