michael_holmes
Hello, I cannot decide between the Canon 28-75mm IS USM f 4-5.6 lens versus Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f 2.8. Both are around the same price. I am mostly going to shoot landscapes with a tripod at around 50mm. I read the reviews and each lens has pros and cons of course. But, in the end, I cannot figure out which one will deliver the best picture. Does anyone have a thought between the two? Is the fast 2.8 really that much of a benefit compared to the f4 on the Canon? Thanks for any help! Michael
tommyinca
I assume you mean EF28-135 IS USM. I have both. The 28-75 is better optically and lighter. The 28-135 is a more versatile. If you will be shooting at f4, a lot get the Tamron. If you are more of a f5.6 and f8 shooter, the Canon is fine.
kari v
You don't need 135mm or IS and Tamron is optically better. Shouldn't be too hard to choose for landscape work. For general shooting Canon has IS but it's an older model and at the tele end Tamron is two stops faster which gives you higher shutter speed to handhold and stop motion, also brighter viewfinder, better autofocus and even better if your body has fast lens sensitive af-point(s).
