arthur_m. Posted April 15, 2006 Share Posted April 15, 2006 Well, I don't know if it's most like a 283, but I have a couple of Sunpak PZ5000AF units that work nicely on manual or automatic. In manual, you can dial the power down to 1/64 in 1/3-stop increments. They have a good amount of power, a bounce, swivel and zoom head and a built-in slave sensor. They also have a plug for a high-voltage battery pack for fast recharge. I've read a couple of places where the voltage is okay, but check for yourself on that. I've used them with a D70 with no problems. Now use them mostly off camera in slave mode. You can pick them up used for about the same price as a used 283 or 285.
